Where to shop

If you had planned a shopping trip to start the year, you may face closed doors. Major brands, shopping centers and shops in the center of the Pink City will remain closed. However, some local supermarkets are open to meet your essential needs:

  • Carrefour City Bachelier (44 place Bachelier): from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Carrefour City Saint-Exupéry (280 avenue Antoine de Saint-Exupéry): open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Carrefour City Gloire (3 avenue de la Gloire): open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Carrefour City Camille Pujol (68 avenue Camille Pujol): accessible from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Carrefour City Jules Julien (121 avenue Jules Julien): accessible from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Carrefour Express Minimes (49 boulevard des Minimes): open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Carrefour City Saint-Michel (105 grand-rue Saint-Michel): from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Other local businesses may also be open, including some grocery stores, but it is advisable to check their hours before traveling.

Utilities slow

On the administration side, almost all municipal services are closed. However, special availability is provided for death declarations at the Civil Registry, located at 2 rue de l'Abbé Jules-Lemire, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sports and cultural infrastructures dependent on the metropolis remain inaccessible this January 1. Swimming pools, museums, media libraries and other public places keep their doors closed. The only exception: the Capitole ice rink, which opens from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. for those who want to put on their skates and eliminate the excesses of the day before…

As for household waste collection, it is suspended for the day, with the exception of the city center where collection is maintained. To find out the catch-up day in your neighborhood or municipality, go to the Métropole website.

With these many restrictions, January 1 is a perfect opportunity to slow down after the New Year's Eve festivities. Between relaxation and moments shared with family or friends, start 2025 on a peaceful note.
