The price of fuel will increase slightly on January 1, 2025. Unleaded increases to 1.64 euros/liter, an increase of 2 cents, diesel to 1.27 euros/liter and therefore increases by 1 cent. While the gas bottle rises to 18 euros after the removal of the Department's subsidy.

A decree published in the Official Journal on November 14, 2024 draws the model for the new child health record, from January 1, 2025. Made up of four main parts, it includes new features in each of them with, in particular, the addition of prevention messages for raising your child without violence, for the introduction of food, for the child's sleep, on the use of screens or to take care of the mental health of adolescents.

The details of the follow-up of the 20 compulsory examinations will also be recorded more precisely and will make it possible to detect neurodevelopmental disorders.

In addition, following the recommendations of the High Authority for Health, the Ministry of Health is imposing a new vaccine for infants from January 1, 2025, that against meningococcal ACWY and B infections.

This obligation “aims to better protect infants against these serious infections, in response to a worrying increase observed in recent years”.

– Leap back on meal vouchers

The succession of new governments, and the fall of that of Michel Barnier, got the better of the rules on restaurant vouchers, due to lack of time to get the text voted on.

It will no longer be possible to purchase non-directly consumable food products with your vouchers from January 1, 2025.

So yes to sandwiches or ready meals, but no to foods such as pasta, rice or flour for example.

The usable daily amount will return to 19 euros compared to the 25 euros authorized since 2022.

A return to the old use of meal vouchers which may not last in 2025 since the adoption of an extension of the current use of meal vouchers could be voted on soon.

– Less plastic at school and nursery

All structures welcoming children (school, nursery, specific medical establishment) will be prohibited from using plastic food containers for cooking, reheating and serving from January 1, 2025.

This concerns establishments in municipalities of 2,000 inhabitants or more.

– Increase in prices of mail and parcels

La Poste has announced an increase of 6.8% on average in the prices of mail and parcels. The reasons given: inflation and the drop in mail volume. This increase will be effective on January 1, 2025.

Here is the evolution of letter prices:

• the green letter will cost €1.39 (compared to €1.29),
• the service letter plus will cost €3.15 (compared to €2.99)
• the red e-letter will cost €1.49 (price unchanged)
• the 20 g registered letter will cost €5.74 (compared to €5.36)
• the 20 g international letter will cost €2.10 (compared to €1.96)
• the “tracked” sticker will cost €0.50 (price unchanged)

15 hours of weekly activity for RSA beneficiaries

From January 1, 2025, beneficiaries of RSA (active solidarity income) will have to devote 15 hours per week to integration activities to keep their allowance. These activities may include training, internships or company immersions.

For people who are already RSA beneficiaries, no action will be necessary regarding registration with Travail.

On the other hand, if you become a beneficiary of the RSA in 2025, you will have to complete an online questionnaire directly on the France Travail website, allowing the person to be directed to the referent organization likely to support them.

Subsequently, the applicant for benefits must carry out a personalized assessment of their situation and sign an employment contract with their referring organization.

New unemployment compensation rules

From January 1, 2025, there will be changes for job seekers with the entry into force of new compensation rules.

The new text plans to raise the age limits by two years from which unemployed seniors benefit from a longer period of compensation.

The level giving entitlement to 22.5 months of maximum compensation will increase from 53 to 55 years. The level allowing 27 months of compensation is raised from 55 to 57 years.

There will also be relaxation for seasonal workers who will have to work less time than before to qualify for unemployment. In fact, only five months worked out of the last twenty-four will be necessary to receive unemployment compared to six months until then.

Good news for retirees from the first day of 2025: basic pensions will be increased by 2.2%, a rate “linked to mechanical indexation on the basis of inflation observed in 2024 by INSEE “.
