Hospital center, shelters, firefighters… the tour of childcare services for New Year's Eve in

Like every year, the State undertakes its tour of childcare services for New Year's Eve. On the program: social services, health, law enforcement, the 3rd RPIMa and the firefighters.

If on December 31, many people have their minds occupied with New Year's Eve, some are responsible for ensuring the safety of the population. Several professions provide on-call duty if necessary. Like every year, in order to recognize this commitment, the State tours these services. At the end of 2024, the prefect Christian Pouget, and Amélie Trioux, the chief of staff, went to meet these people on call, as well as the City's elected officials. On the program: social services, health, law enforcement, 3rd RPIMa and firefighters.

To inaugurate this traditional tour, the first visit took place at Aude Urgence Accueil, the association which houses the homeless and has three shelters within the department, namely , Limoux and , in plus the winter emergency shelter at Patte d'Oie in the prefecture town. “This year, two employees are on duty. On the CHRS side (accommodation and social reintegration center, Editor’s note)located at Place Joseph Poux in Carcassonne, there are 14 places and four emergency places.list Michel Peguin, the president, and Anne Capdequi, head of department.

Across the entire system, Aude Urgence Accueil accommodates 300 people on the evening of December 31. “We must not forget all these people present all year round, who give their time to help others. These places represent challenges of integration, of reintegration to achieve autonomy for the individuals in care”declares the prefect.

Once midnight, more unrest is expected

What followed was a visit to the hospital center, where Christmas week was rather busy, according to Julie Peyre, senior health executive and co-manager of the center. “We have had a lot of arrivals of patients with flu-like illnesses. For this New Year's Eve, we are expecting a relatively quiet start to the night. But once midnight passes, we expect more hustle”she explains.
