A fire is underway this Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Narbonne sorting center. Emergency services are on site.
This Friday, January 3, a fire broke out at the Narbonne sorting center on the RD 6009, route de Perpignan, around 4 a.m. A very large amount of smoke was escaping from the Ecopôle storage shed.
Significant resources were dispatched by firefighters from Narbonne and surrounding barracks to the scene to bring the disaster under control. In total, around forty firefighters are on site.
Smoke is visible and a very long operation was planned by the firefighters around 9 a.m. According to initial analyses, the fumes are bothersome but not dangerous and do not hinder traffic. One person was slightly inconvenienced by the smoke and examined by firefighters. She does not show signs of intoxication, indicates the Aude prefecture.
At the end of the morning, the fire was under control and the progress is considered favorable. However, it is recommended to avoid the area to facilitate access for emergency vehicles.
