KAZUO ISHIGURO

Author and screenwriter Sir Kazuo Ishiguro, aged 70, has been named a member of the Order of Companions of Honour, a distinction reserved for only 65 people. The Nobel Prize winner, Golders Green resident, was knighted in 2019 and received the latter award for his contributions to literature. Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki, Japan, and moved to the United Kingdom in 1960 with his parents when he was just five years old. He has been nominated four times for the Booker Prize, winning in 1989 with The Remains of the Dayadapted for the cinema in 1993.
STEPHEN FRY

Comedian Stephen Fry has been awarded a knighthood in the New Year Honors for his contributions to mental health awareness, the environment and charity. Originally from Hampstead, this 67-year-old actor, screenwriter and author, known for comedy Blackadder and for hosting the quiz QIhas been chairman of mental health charity Mind since 2011. He has also supported the conservation group Fauna and Flora International, of which the Prince of Wales is patron.
MYLEENE KLASS

Myleene Klass, musician, presenter and entrepreneur, has been honored as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her contributions to women’s health, pregnancy loss awareness and charitable work. Former singer of the group Hear’Say, mother of three children, she has personally experienced four miscarriages and speaks openly about the psychological impacts of infant loss on women. She said on her Instagram account that she wanted to put “Myleene Klass MBE” on all her documents.
ANNE-MARIE DUFF

TV and film star Anne-Marie Duff was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her contributions to the drama. Duff, who recently appeared in Crouch End, rose to fame through the comedy-drama Shameless on Channel 4. She has since excelled in films such as Enigma, The Magdalene Sisters et Notes on a Scandal.
