At the end of the Leicester-Man City match played on Sunday December 29, Van Nistelrooy, the Foxes coach, expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the young Atlas Lion, despite the defeat.
“I think Bilal deserves praise today for his commitment with and without the ball and for his talent and technique,” said the Dutch technician. “When we just clear the ball, he (El Khannouss) will not be there to recover it. But when we play through midfield, we find Bilal and Facundo (Buonanotte). These are players who can flourish,” said the former Dutch international, in comments relayed by Leicester Mercury, the media close to the East Midlands club.
Having become an indisputable starter since the arrival of Van Nistelrooy on the Leicester City bench, the bronze medalist from the Paris Olympic Games put in a string of performances adapting to the Foxes’ game plan.
In the attacking midfielder position, Bilal El Khannouss is in the oven and in the mill. Ensuring his defensive role as a recoverer but he is also on the rise with deep passes and spectacular dribbling.
As a reminder, Bilal El Khannouss joined Leicester City during the last summer transfer window from Belgian club Genk in a €20.5 million deal. A 15% resale clause was also included.
