The riders of the 2024 Tour de France remain in Italy this Sunday, June 30 – the day of the legislative elections in France – for the second stage which links Cesenatico to Bologna. On the program, 198.7 km for a new beautiful piece which could delight the punchers. Romain Bardet starts with the yellow jersey, won on Saturday in Rimini.

Head to the province of Forlì-Cesena in Emilia-Romagna for the start from Cesenatico on the Adriatic coast. The riders will then head inland further north to catch a glimpse of the splendid medieval buildings of Bologna. Just under 20 kilometres on the clock.

The day should start slowly but as the riders move away from the coast, the small difficulties will come closer together. Six difficulties are scattered throughout the stage, including the famous Cima Gallisterna where Julian Alaphilippe triumphed in 2020 for his world title. Also watch out for the two passages on the Côte de San Luca with an average gradient of over 10%.

The favourites of the second stage

He didn’t show up much on Saturday, will he do so this Sunday? Tadej Pogacar could have ants in his legs during this second round, just like his rival Primoz Roglic. Unless Wout van Aert tries to steal the yellow jersey from Romain Bardet.

The fictitious start will be given at 12:15 p.m., real at 12:40 p.m. The anticipated arrival is announced at 5:06 p.m. The 21 stages of this Grande Boucle are broadcast on TV on France 2 and France 3 but also on the Eurosport 1 antenna as well as live commentary on the RMC Sport website and application. RMC will broadcast all the stages on the radio between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and in full on its 100% Route digital radio.
