NBA sensation LeBron James announced Wednesday that he will be taking a break from social media, a decision influenced by his frustrations with the “negative” narratives that proliferate across the American media landscape.
James, who has an impressive following of around 212 million across his Instagram and X platforms, made the announcement after sharing a post by Rich Kleiman, the esteemed agent of NBA star Kevin Durant.
“In a world filled with so much hate and negativity, I find it perplexing that certain segments of the national sports media believe that negativity is the best way to report on sports,” Kleiman expressed on X. “For my part, I considers this a real waste of energy.”
Responding to Kleiman’s sentiments, the 39-year-old Los Angeles Lakers winger shared the post with a succinct and emphatic comment: “AMEN!!”

Shortly after, James returned to X to clarify his decision to temporarily withdraw from social networks. “And that said, I’ll see you soon! I’m disconnecting from social media for the moment. Take care of yourself!” he declared.
This isn’t the first time James has chosen to unplug from the digital sphere. The all-time leading scorer has already taken breaks, often to focus more on his basketball commitments.
During a recent game where the Lakers triumphed over Utah, James let on his displeasure with online criticism, especially after the explosive performance of rookie Dalton Knecht, who scored an impressive total of 37 points.
Reflecting on Knecht’s skills, James noted that he was aware of the rookie’s potential from his NCAA days at Tennessee, saying, “People online often label me as a liar. They claim I make everything up .So what am I now? I’ve said it before. I’ve been following Tennessee closely.
