  • Nearly a thousand farmers demonstrated their anger in front of the headquarters of the Federal Office of Agriculture in Liebefeld.

  • Coming from all over Switzerland, the demonstrators believe that they are not listened to by the authorities.

  • Farmers are demanding a reduction in administrative costs and an increase in income.

The sound is deafening. For fifteen long minutes, at 1 p.m. sharp this Tuesday, the farmers rang their bells in front of the building of the Federal Office of Agriculture (FOAG), nestled in the Bernese suburbs. There were nearly a thousand of them in Liebefeld, coming from all over Switzerland to ask to “be able to live with dignity from their profession”. The signs held up, such as “OFAG: responsible for suicides”, left no doubt about their anger. At the head of the procession, the farmers carried a wooden cage and a coffin, which they placed in front of the administration door.
