Follow the Marne
It was a symbolic ceremony which took place this Monday, December 2, 2024 at the Great War Museum of the Pays de Meaux. Around 6 p.m., dozens of firefighters from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) of Seine-et-Marne gathered to formalize the arrival of the lieutenant-colonel Fabrice Petit in command of the northern territorial grouping.
Back in Meaux, his hometown
After a presentation of medals to several firefighters for their action, the ceremony officially introduced Fabrice Petit as the new commander of the northern territorial grouping of SDIS 77. It succeeds Nicolas Seffraygone to human resources. A return to his land for Lieutenant-Colonel Fabrice Petit who is born and raised in Meaux 57 years ago.
It is also here that his commitment began in 1986 as young volunteer firefighter. He made his professional debut as a private ambulance driver, but, after military service in the Civil Security Instruction and Intervention Unit of Nogent-le-Rotrou (Eure-et-Loir) in 1990, he was finally recruited as professional firefighter.
Assigned to the Chessy barracks for 7 years, he then became sergeant in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre. Fabrice Petit takes the competitive exam lieutenant in 2000 and joined the general staff in the departmental service. He returned to Meaux between 2001 and 2005 as group leader. Among the notable operations: a violent fire at the Argonne Tower for which he received a medal for courage and dedication in 2004.
He became captain in 2007 before being appointed head of center from Chessy in 2011 and passed the exam for commandant in 2016 where he took charge of another operational unit in Meaux. In 2019, he joined the general staff and took charge management of the operational doctrines service. Fabrice Petit is promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel in 2023 and becomes group leaderent in charge of rescue and emergency care for people.
Supervise 11 emergency centers
It was at the end of 2024 that he returned to Meaux to take over head of the northern territorial grouping. Lieutenant-Colonel Fabrice Petit will have under his command the our caserns of the administrative district of Meaux, 232 professional firefighters and 695 volunteers. These rescue centers act in 127 communesa population of 316 000 habitants in a territory which presents many issues such as “road, river, air” transport, but also environmental protection with hundreds of classified installations, Seveso sites…
This is without counting the flood phenomenaincreasingly important, like that suffered by the Grand Morin sector in October 2024.
