The City of Gatineau Police Service (SPVG) arrested a minor for an armed assault in Buckingham.

The events took place early Monday afternoon on the cycle path near rue Pierre-Laporte and rue Georges.

The victim was injured, but his life is not in danger.

The alleged attacker is still detained. He faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

These accusations will be submitted to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions in the Youth Chamber.

According to the SPVGthe suspect as well as the victim presented themselves at the Buckingham police station after the attack. The police then proceeded to arrest the alleged attacker.

The investigation continues to determine the causes and circumstances surrounding this matter.

The first elements of the investigation tend to demonstrate that the victim and the suspect did not know each other.
