A major fire broke out this Thursday, June 27 afternoon in a waste treatment center located in Gardanne, in Bouches-du-Rhône. The incident occurred between two main roads, and the department’s firefighters warned motorists of the nuisance that its smoke could cause. In August 2021, a fire devastated 7,000 hectares in the hinterland of Saint-Tropez, in the Var, killing two people and leading to the evacuation of 10,000 people.
