“We pass on the cost of the service provider and indirect costs such as electricity,” announces Christine Autenzio, the mayor of Crécy-la-Chapelle. The price of meals in the canteen is a logical concern for many parents, especially since 310 primary school children and 150 nursery school children eat lunch in the town canteen.

As everywhere else, economic parameters have changed over the months, especially in terms of power supply and electricity billing, forcing town halls to adapt.

The decision to increase the price of the meal was taken on April 23 by the Education, Children and Youth Committee. The price at the start of the school year will increase to €4.80, it was initially €4.30 then €4.60, following the increase in the cost of the service provider in September 2023. Staff costs are also a factor explaining the 20 cent increase: “If we compare it with other municipalities, the price of the meal remains lower in Crécy-la-Chapelle and is equivalent to other cities,” says Christine Autenzio.

Help from the CCAS

This increase will be discussed at the next Crécy-la-Chapelle municipal council, which will take place on Wednesday July 3 at 7 p.m., Altmann room.

Note that the CCAS (communal social action center) can, depending on the case and in particular for families with modest incomes, offer assistance with the canteen.
