As part of their training, final year CAP and Bac Vocational students and apprentices must propose, design, produce and present a masterpiece, the result of two years of work. The artistic, historical, creative and technical dimensions must be integrated into the presentation file, and of course, into the final production.
The apprentices from the metalwork section, particularly inspired and forming a close-knit group, chose to work on a creation advocating human and republican values, such as fraternity and team spirit. Ms. Odile Viale, professor of Applied Arts and recognized artist-designer, transmitted to her students the history of the key through the ages, and in particular that of the Gadz’Arts of the National School of Arts and Crafts of Cluny . Seduced by this tradition where fraternity is an essential value, our young artisans decided to reappropriate this tradition by creating a symbolic key for their promotion… in metal.
Ideas abound and the design work, with the wise advice of Mr. Philippe Méjane, metalwork professor and business manager, makes it possible to create the plans, choose the materials and plan the stages of production.
Thanks to the cohesion of the group composed of Hallassane, Mehdi, Soleha and Lancé, as well as their enthusiasm, the apprentices make the various elements of the key (the ring, the hexagon, the laurel, the stem, the bit and its figures). The assembly then reveals all the magnificence of their work.
The project, completed in time for the examination, was presented to the Colbert Foundation competition for the academies of Montpellier and Toulouse, where they won the Arts Prize. While perhaps waiting for the national prize for which the work was qualified.
