At least 17 people were killed and 20 others injured in an explosion at a train station in Quetta on Saturday morning.
ISLAMABAD, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) — At least 17 people were killed and 20 others injured in an explosion at a railway station in Quetta, capital of southwest Balochistan province, on Saturday morning, officials said.
Quetta Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Allah Noor told critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Baloch told reporters that the blast took place near the ticket counters of the station, while a number of passengers were queuing to buy tickets. He added that at the time of the explosion, more than 100 people were present at the ticket counters when the explosion took place.
A state of emergency has been declared in all hospitals in the city.
Baloch said the nature of the explosion was not yet confirmed, but added that an initial investigation showed it was a suicide attack.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.■
