Hosea Amorus Puhya was found guilty Thursday of the first degree murder of his wife, Gisele Betondi, perpetrated in September 2022 in the borough of LaSalle, in the southwest of Montreal.
The victim was stabbed in front of her three young children.
She had filed a complaint against her partner more than once with the police and had even left the family home to take refuge with a friend.
Hosa Puhya had three files relating to violence and armed assault at the Montreal courthouse.
After being detained for threats in a context of domestic violence, the accused regained his freedom under several conditions, including that of not approaching the victim. That was before he did the irreparable.
