Death of Émile: why the little boy has still not been buried, two months after the discovery of his bones

This Saturday, March 30, bones belonging to little Émile were found, nine months after his disappearance in Haut-Vernet. Two months after the discovery, the child’s death certificate has still not been signed.

Months of waiting before the macabre discovery. On March 30, Emile’s bones were found by a hiker in Haut-Vernet.

Since then the investigation has continued and the skull and teeth of the little boy have been formally identified. However, the causes of his death have not been established. “In-depth assessments are still in progress. They do not justify communication for the moment,” simply declared the public prosecutor of Aix-en-Provence Jean-Luc Blanchon to BFMTV.

Still no death certificate signed

According to our colleagues, the soil found on Emile’s clothes is still being analyzed. “This land is put into cultivation. Like other soil samples at the site where the discovery took place, indicates a Source BFMTV. Then scientists wait and compare. If animals or bacteria appear on one side and not the other, it may mean that the bones or clothing have been moved. So it’s a very long time, at least four months.”

Only once the analyzes have been completed can the death certificate be signed. This document is essential so that the family can be issued with a burial permit.

“The investigators are certainly seeking to specify the period of death in order to establish a death certificate as strictly as possible. It is long and sad but the time of Justice is not that of the family“, comments a magistrate cited by our colleagues.
