This Wednesday, June 5, there were around twenty of them, opposite the AS Dragon stadium, asking for work to evacuate the rainwater that stagnates in their neighborhood, but especially in their house.

Significant losses

Lucienne, resident of Belle Plaine, shares her anguish with us.

I have already lost a refrigerator, a washing machine, a dryer. No, I’m tired of it. Two mattresses, the silverware, my dining room. I can not stand it anymore. The humidity rises. I threw out four or five TVs the other day. I lost a lot of things. I don’t intend to lose any more.

A long-standing problem

Mireille, a resident of Belle Plaine, specifies that evacuation concerns are not new.

It must be said that the population is fed up, because this is not the first time that we have appealed to the town hall at CARL as well. We have sent letters and so far we have not had a response. Each time it rains, we worry, we don’t know how it’s going to happen, we don’t know what we’re going to lose each time. So, we are here hoping to have answers and that those responsible will do what needs to be done so that we avoid having recurring water surges.

Since the installation of the dam, the residents of Belle Plaine have received visits from the president of CARL, Loïc Tonton, and the mayor of Gosier, Liliane Montout.
