This Friday, October 18, 2024, France 3 will broadcast, in the first part of the evening, a concert event in tribute to Charles Aznavour; while the biopic with Tahar Rahim is also coming out in cinemas. An exclusive evening, called Forever at the top of the posterwhere several artists from the current French scene will cover his flagship titles, all interspersed with archive images from the private collection of the Aznavour family.
But if several well-known faces will parade in front of the cameras, there is an artist, a little less known, who has never stopped paying tribute to Charles Aznavour. This is his eldest daughter, Seda. The fruit of his love affair with Micheline Rugel, his very first wife – remember that the singer was married three times – the singer who is now 77 years old also had a career in music and cinema, like her father.
Seda, the eldest of the Aznavour clan following in her footsteps
The artist began her career in music in the 1960s, and even toured the United States. At the same time, she entered the very closed world of cinema, starting by working on feature film soundtracks. At the same time, the woman who herself had two children with the American hairdresser Sam Stockfish – Lyra and Jacob – appeared in several French films: Paris in August, The Lions Share et A beautiful monster in which she played opposite her illustrious father, Shahnourh Varinag Aznavourian, his real name.
Seda Aznavour’s last album was released in 1988, but we saw her on stage at the Théâtre du Gymnase in Paris just a few months after the death of her father in 2018. It was during a tribute concert where she performed the title His youth facing a packed and completely silent room. Since then, she has been rather discreet.
