On October 11, the Baugé Agri Methane methanization unit was inaugurated in Baugé-en-Anjou. Commissioned in February 2024, this tool was supported by sixteen partners: fourteen farms as well as Alter energies (supported by the Department and the Intercommunal Energy Union of Maine-et-Loire) and the Hemp’it cooperative. The result of an investment of 7.3 million euros, having generated two job creations, it will convert 24,000 tonnes of inputs per year into green gas: livestock effluent, and plants (mainly coming from Hemp’ it). Baugé Agri Methane produces 140 Nm3/h of biomethane, the equivalent of the annual consumption of more than 3,000 new homes heated with gas in Baugé-en-Anjou. Thanks to the construction of a 28-kilometer gas network, GRDF will also be able to serve Angers Loire Métropole with gas produced by Baugé Agri Méthane. This renewable gas production also supplies the nearby bioNGV station, BVér. The digestate from methanization serves as a natural fertilizer for the 170 ha of agricultural operations. Sixteen methanization sites are installed in Maine-et-Loire.
