Residents of southern Israel will vote in local elections on Tuesday, almost a year after those held elsewhere in Israel.
Polling stations will open at 7 a.m. in the regional councils of Eshkol, Hof Ashkelon, Shaar HaNegev, Sdot Negev and Sderot, nine months after the vote was postponed due to the war in Gaza.
According to the Interior Ministry, 65,335 voters will be able to vote in the fifteen polling stations made available in the southern districts, to which are added seven polling stations opened elsewhere in Israel for people evacuated by the fighting.

In a press release, the ministry announced the “establishment of a shuttle system for the benefit of people evacuated from the cities of Bat Yam, Ashkelon, Netivot and Gan Yavne”.
The first local elections held throughout Israel since 2018 should have been held on October 31, 2023, but they were postponed until January 31 following the Hamas attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
They suffered a second postponement due to the large number of reservists held in combat and were finally able to be held in February of this year in most of the country.
