Urgent repatriation: Tunisia to the aid of its Citizens in Lebanon

The President of the Tunisian Republic, Kaïs Saïed, took the decision this Saturday, September 28, 2024 to organize a flight to allow Tunisians residing in Lebanon and wishing to return to the country to do so.

In a press release published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is specified that the president ordered all the structures concerned to act quickly to realize this initiative in the days to come, in close collaboration with the Lebanese authorities.

This decision comes in response to the worsening situation in Lebanon, following a Zionist aggression, and within the framework of the constant policy of the Tunisian State aimed at protecting its citizens abroad, providing them with the necessary support and to guarantee their safety.

The Head of State also asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as that of Migration and Tunisians Abroad, to work together with the Tunisian Embassy in Beirut to immediately establish a list of Tunisians wishing to return. This operation will take into account health, security and humanitarian priorities.

Furthermore, Kaïs Saïed reaffirmed Tunisia’s unwavering solidarity with Lebanon and its support in the face of threats to its security and stability. He also called for rapid coordination with the Lebanese authorities to assess the needs for medical care and humanitarian aid, with the aim of providing all necessary assistance to the Lebanese people.
