UFC 303 was to mark the comeback of Conor McGregor. Kept away from the octagon due to a broken leg suffered during his clash against Dustin Poirier, the Irishman has not fought for three years. At this UFC 303, it will therefore be a fight between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka. Having already faced each other in the past, the two men will once again face off for the light heavyweight title, held by the Brazilian.
Alex Pereira, the Brazilian in a hurry
Pereira is not the patient type. In just 5 UFC fights, the Brazilian has managed to rise to the top of the sport. Crowned in two different categories, Poatan first captured the middleweight title by defeating Israel Adesanya in 2022. Best enemies since their kickboxing fights a few years earlier, the two fighters had delivered a very nice fight. The fight ended in a KO victory for Pereira. He thus won his third victory against Adesanya in two different disciplines.
Beaten in turn by KO during the return fight a few months later, the Brazilian decided to move up to light heavyweight following this defeat. A wise choice, since the 36-year-old fighter captured the belt in his second fight in his new category. Winner by TKO against Jiri Prochazka, Pereira became the first UFC fighter to win the middleweight and light heavyweight titles.

Jiri Prochazka, the modern-day samurai
The title fight was no easy feat for Pereira. Facing another equally formidable fighter, the Brazilian managed to overcome a Jiri Prochazka who was nevertheless in great shape. Known for his unpredictable striking, the Czech has also had a meteoric rise in the UFC. Projected into the spotlight thanks to his spectacular KO of Dominick Reyes, Prochazka seized the title in his next fight.
The Czech fighter was forced to vacate his title after suffering a shoulder injury before being able to defend it. Back in November 2023, he lost by referee stoppage in the second round to Alex Pereira in a thrilling clash.
