Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has revealed why their Caf Confederation Cup fixture against CS Sfaxien will shape their path in the tournament.
The Coder Red will take on the Tunisian outfit in their matchday four fixture of the tournament at Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi stadium on Sunday. During the first meeting of the Group A fixture, Simba won 2-1 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
“This is a vital match for us in our journey to the quarterfinals. The outcome will shape our path forward,” stressed Davids ahead of the game. “Every player is motivated and understands the importance of this match. Fans back home should keep the team in their prayers as we aim to surprise our hosts.”
He added: “We know this will not be an easy match, but we must fight to ensure we win. Our opponents are well-prepared and will be seeking revenge after losing the first match, but we have also prepared to face them.”
The South African coach further said: “Simba is a big club and plays every game to win normally. We respect Sfaxien. We have a young squad — new team. No fans for the game means no ultras and intimidating crowd. It will help my players to be settled and hear me well when I communicate but will still be a tough game.”
Simba midfielder Fabrice Ngoma said: “We need to win this match to strengthen our chances of advancing to the quarterfinals. We made minor mistakes in our previous away match against CS Constantine, but we are determined to correct them this time.”
