Soon a suspension of CAF in Morocco?

Algeria Foot – Raja Casablanca (Morocco) scored a crucial victory against Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) during the 4th day of the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

In front of their home crowd, the Moroccans took the lead thanks to a goal from Benaissa Benamar just before the break. This success allows Raja, second Moroccan representative of group B alongside AS FAR, to consolidate its position in the competition by remaining solid against one of the African leaders.

However, this meeting was not without controversy. Raja supporters distinguished themselves by reprehensible behavior, including the use of lasers aimed at South African players and the throwing of smoke bombs on the field. Acts which could lead to serious repercussions for the Casablanca club.

CAF, which had already warned teams against such behavior before this decisive phase, could take action by applying exemplary sanctions. In the meantime, this victory, although precious, risks being eclipsed by these excesses, which cast a shadow over sporting performance and put Raja Casablanca, Morocco’s most successful club at the international level, under the disciplinary radar of the CIF.
