The youth ski plan is back in Savoie. A success that has been confirmed for 20 years!
The Department of Savoie confirms the success of its system for middle school students.
After Nordic skiing, alpine skiing
The Nordic outings kicked off in December. This week it's the turn of alpine skiing. Until the end of March, several thousand young people will be able to taste the pleasures of skiing.
45 colleges and 21 stations
21 resorts are associated with this operation (13 resorts for Nordic skiing) which brings together 45 of the 46 colleges in Savoie. In detail, the Nordic youth ski plan concerns 4,800 middle school students from 43 establishments (190 classes) for cycles of at least 10 hours. The Alpine youth ski plan concerns 2,670 middle school students from 25 establishments (106 classes) for cycles of at least 10 hours as well.
A plan that is 20 years old
Since 2005, more than 120,000 middle school students have taken advantage of the Savoie department's ski plans for both Nordic skiing and alpine skiing. The department will also invite middle school students to experience the French championships from the inside in Méribel from March 31 to April 6.
Other plans for young people
In addition to the Alpine and Nordic Youth Ski Plans, the Savoie Department is piloting 3 other operations intended for Savoyard middle school students, combining sport and nature:
• the Mountain Plan with hiking, discovery of the mountain environment and overnight stay in a refuge;
• the Nautical Plan on lakes and rivers (rowing, canoeing, sailing);
• the Orienteering Plan in partnership with the Savoie Departmental Orienteering Committee.
