Paris FC begins its second part of the season with the ambition of joining Ligue 1. To do this, the club is seeking to move into a new stadium.
A derby a few meters away PSG a little annoyed
With the acquisition by Red Bull and LVMH, Paris FC is preparing to play in a modernized stadium. Although Stade Charléty can be adapted to Ligue 1 requirements, further upgrading is required. This is why discussions are underway with Stade Français so that Paris FC can play at the Stade Jean-Bouin, very close to the Parc des Princes, which would bring the club closer to PSG, as reported by Le Parisien.
“Discussions with Stade Français are regular, but there remain many challenges to overcome in just five or six months: the renovation of the pitch, the loss of income for Stade Français, and the coordination of calendars with PSG and the Top 14,” specifies Le Parisien.
A derby a few meters away
Such a rapprochement could well mark the start of a strong rivalry between PSG and Paris FC in Ligue 1, with hotly contested derbies and two matches just a few steps away from each other… it promises to be intense!
Paris FC, under the direction of the Arnault family and the Red Bull group, aims to take a major step forward, in particular by targeting Ligue 1.
PSG a little annoyed
If officially, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, president of PSG, welcomes the arrival of new resources for the Ligue 2 club, sources indicate that he would have been upset by this change without having been informed beforehand. Upon learning of the arrival of a competitor with significant resources, Al-Khelaïfi would have seen a potential threat to PSG.
Despite this emerging rivalry, relations between Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Antoine Arnault remain cordial. Arnault sought to ease tensions, saying that although Paris FC have big ambitions, they are not looking to compete directly with PSG. His main objective is first to have a good season in Ligue 2 and to move up to Ligue 1, with the hope of stabilizing the club in the elite and aiming for European places in the long term.
