It was slippery on Swiss roads on Friday morning. The precipitation that the weather brought on Thursday evening left many places frozen overnight. The result: many streets were covered with a layer of ice.
The federal government warned early in the morning of “moderate danger” due to the slippery roads. Danger level 2 applied to around half of Switzerland. The cantons of Zurich and Aargau were affected, among others. The warning was valid until 9 a.m.
The federal government has now increased the danger level for the coming days: Danger level 3 has been declared – “significant danger”. The warning is in effect from Saturday evening at 9 p.m. until Sunday at 6 a.m.
Warnings are issued about the sudden risk of slipping, icy traffic routes that are difficult to pass, and obstructions to road and air traffic.
Drivers are advised to drive carefully and keep more distance. If possible, you should avoid driving.
