Bus lines no longer have the same name in Brussels.
The Flemish operator of public transport Of Line is making significant changes to its network this Monday, particularly due to a shortage of drivers and of bus. L’organisation of TreinTramBus travelers say they are very disappointed by this new offer. “Of Line abandons its passengers to their fate”she reacts.
In Brussels, certain routes are modified and the lines will also change names. In most cases, the letter R will precede two numbers in the line name. “This indicates that these are buses which connect the Brussels region”, explique Marco Demerling, porte-parole of De Lijn. “There will also be N lines for night and there is a letter X which is a fast line.”he adds.
Shortage of around 150 drivers
Already in November, Of Line had made some changes to its operation. The company is still suffering from a shortage of around 150 drivers and must therefore now reduce its offer of 2.5%. Additionally, approximately 10% of the network is modified as part of the last phase of implementation of the Flemish decree on accessibility of basis, which requires Of Line to concentrate on the main routes of circulation and possibilities of connection with trains.
Of many changes are planned for the region of Leuven, where 40% of the network of bus has been modified. According to TreinTramBus, these changes are arbitrary and travelers have not been properly informed. The old information panels are still hung at most stops and the new timetables are not displayed, deplores the organization. She also denounces a lack of logical in certain changes, in connection with trains and the closure of schools.
