André van Duin has of course become an indispensable part of Dutch showbiz. He has been a household name on radio, television and in the theater for 60 years. To celebrate this, a major anniversary concert will be broadcast tonight on NPO 1.
Last June the concert was recorded in the new Luxor Theater in Rotterdam and tonight at 10:00 PM the recordings will be broadcast on Omroep MAX on NPO 1. Several major artists honor Van Duin by performing his songs in a unique way.
Anniversary concert
During the concert, Van Duin’s long, rich career is celebrated by showing his greatest hits, sung by some of the biggest artists in the Netherlands. Do you think opera and carnival don’t go together? Francis van Broekhuizen proves the opposite and performs some of Van Duin’s carnival hits. Danny Vera sings ‘Forever’, Gerard Cox performs the sing-along ‘When the sun shines’ and Simone Kleinsma shows what she has to offer with her version of ‘Love is’. Veldhuis & Kemper also take the stage, Karin Bloemen, Richard Groenendijk, Magtel de Laat, Gerard Cox and Jeangu Macrooy. Each in their own way they honor one of the greatest entertainers in the Netherlands.
60 years of André van Duin
In 1965, eighteen-year-old André van Duin released his very first single: ‘Hé Hé (Ik Heet André)’ and since then things have been going well. The Netherlands holds the comedian, presenter and program maker in its hearts and we have been enjoying his songs and TV programs for 60 years. Just think of carnival songs such as ‘There is a horse in the hallway’, his character Willempie, the Dik Voormekaar Show in All of Holland Bakt. In 2024, André van Duin received the Golden Televizier Oeuvre Ring for his great influence on Dutch showbiz.
The concert in honor of André van Duin’s 60th artist anniversary can be seen today (January 1) at 10:00 PM on NPO 1.
