At CES 2025, Microsoft and LG unveiled a major partnership that will transform the gaming experience on the South Korean brand’s connected televisions.
Good news for Xbox gamers. The Xbox application will be integrated into the Gaming Portal of LG Smart TVs later this year, allowing Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to access cloud gaming without a console.
This strategic collaboration expands Xbox’s presence in the connected TV sector, following a successful first deployment on Samsung models in 2022. Users will be able to access the entire Game Pass Ultimate catalog, including the latest releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or the highly anticipated Avowed from Obsidian Entertainment, scheduled for February 18.
The application will not be limited to the Game Pass catalog. Players will also be able to enjoy their Xbox games purchased separatelyprovided that they are compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming, as is the case for Hogwarts Legacy.

LG and Xbox join forces to free themselves from Microsoft consoles
Chris Jo, senior vice president of LG’s Platform Business division, emphasizes that this integration will “ enrich the gaming experience on LG Smart TVs with an expanded selection of popular games ». The Gaming Portal promises a fluid and intuitive interface to access all of the features.
If the compatible television models have not yet been specified, Microsoft and LG plan to communicate these details in the coming months. We imagine that only the most recent models will be compatible, and obviously the next LG C5 and G5 which have just been announced at CES in Las Vegas.
To benefit from the service, users will have to subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, billed at 20 euros per month. This announcement is part of Microsoft’s “This is an Xbox” strategy, aimed at democratizing access to Xbox games beyond the traditional console. The service is already available on Meta Quest headsets and certain Amazon Fire TV Stick models. Microsoft seems to want to make gaming accessible on as many platforms as possible, and above all more flexible, even if it means selling fewer consoles.
