The three daughters of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis did not hide their emotion during their mother’s coronation this Sunday at the Golden Globes ceremony.
And comeback just the way Hollywood likes them. After more than forty-five years of career, Demi Moore (finally) received the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy for her role in the film The Substancethis Sunday, January 5, in Los Angeles. A consecration which particularly touched her and which was closely scrutinized by her family. The three daughters that the 62-year-old actress had with her ex-husband Bruce Willis – Rumer Glenn (1988), Scout LaRue (1991) and Tallulah Belle (1994) – have in fact gathered to follow the ceremony live since their living room. After a few seconds of suspense, the verdict was in: their mother was declared the winner of the Golden Globe for Best Actress for her performance in The Substance by French director Coralie Fargeat. At this announcement, the sisters literally jumped for joy, clapping and raising their arms in the air, as evidenced by a video posted on their respective Instagram accounts. Suffering from a degenerative disease since February 2023, Bruce Willis was absent from this family reunion.
“She did it,” enthuses Scout LaRue in a comment. Then added: “It’s a huge victory for EVERYONE.” An excitement shared by his big sister Rumer Glenn. “Come on Mom come on. I’m so proud of you. Oh my God, I love you so much. You deserve it,” says the eldest of the Willis clan. And Tallulah adds: “I love him too much. I have no words.”
“I’m just in shock”
The video ends with the three still emotional and excited Willis girls agreeing to shut up and listen to Demi Moore’s speech. “I really didn’t expect it. I’m just in shock,” declared with emotion the 62-year-old actress, star of 1990s blockbusters, as a preamble to her speech. “I’ve been doing this for a long time, over forty-five years now, and this is the first time I’ve earned anything as an actress. I am so humbled and so grateful,” she added, admitting that she considered leaving the film industry before landing her role in The Substance.
The 62-year-old actress took advantage of her speech to share a comment that could have made her quit her career. “Thirty years ago, a producer told me I was a popcorn actress, and at the time I conditioned myself not to be entitled to an award. I told myself that I could make films that made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be recognized. I ended up being convinced of it.” Demi Moore did well to hang on. This Sunday, she defied all predictions by winning the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy, beating the favorite of the evening Mikey Madison, revelation of the Palme d’Or forAnora, and the heroine ofEmilia Perez Karla Sofía Gascón.
