The public gathered at the foot of the Atomium during this New Year’s Eve night to watch the fireworks. In the capital, where the use of these lights by individuals was prohibited, a few incidents have been reported.
The traditional New Year’s fireworks display in Brussels was set off at the foot of the Atomium and 50,000 spectators gathered to enjoy the show at the stroke of midnight.
According to an initial report communicated by the police of the Brussels-Capital Ixelles zone, there were 50,000 spectators gathered on the Heysel plateau to enjoy the event.
“In Brussels, there were a lot of people. Around midnight, 50,000 people gathered to watch the fireworks”communicated the police in a message posted on the X platform shortly after midnight.
The evening began with music with a DJ set from Chez Ginette. The pyrotechnics show was also accompanied by a mapping with lasers on the balls of the Atomium, the capital’s iconic building.

“The City of Brussels celebrated the New Year in a festive manner in front of the Atomium. In total, some 50,000 spectators admired the sparkling fireworks display”also communicated Adélaïde De Patoul, spokesperson for Brussels Major Events. The FCKNYE event at Brussels Expo also attracted more than 32,000 people.
To streamline mobility on New Year’s Eve, STIB had planned additional metros, trams and buses. The network was also accessible free of charge after midnight.
