Johnny Somali, controversial influencer, is on trial from the end of December in South Korea for having “caused a scandal” in a convenience store in Seoul last October. He faces ten years in prison – but could get more, as his list of misdeeds in the world is long. His name has even become the symbol of a new segment of the population willing to do the worst harm to acquire a semblance of notoriety.
Real name Ismaël Ramsey Khalid, Johnny Somali launches into the «stream» (the broadcast of live videos) during the year 2023, on the Twitch platform. The 24-year-old young man introduces himself as being Somali. “I want one thing to be clear, my father is Somali and my mother is Ethiopian, my mother is Oromo (an ethnic group, Editor’s note)”he declares in one of his first videos.
He also claims to have been a child soldier, and even to have later become a pirate…
