Wi-Fi may seem like a constant in a shifting technology landscape, but it’s not set in stone: the move to the seventh iteration is coming, and that’s going to require an update to Windows 11.

Wi-Fi 7, the new version of the internet connection standard that you use all the time, will be released at the end of the year by Microsoft. But to be able to access it from a Windows computer, you will need to have Windows 11 and the 24H2 update which should be released in September.

Or at least that’s what’s guaranteed. As Neowin explains, Microsoft hasn’t clearly communicated whether Wi-Fi 7 might one day be available on earlier versions like Windows 10, for example (but it’s unlikely).

But updating won’t be enough! You will also need to make sure you have the necessary equipment! Whether at the level of the router/modem or the computer, and it will also be necessary to have an adapter for the network, at least initially until this technology is widespread.
