Gemini arrives on Gmail to revolutionize email (and not only), but not for everyone
Google announced it at Google I/O last month: Gemini would be integrated into all of its apps as a side panel to help users summarize emails, write content and more. Now, BigG has finally announced the arrival of the new feature: let’s see how it works, but keep in mind that it is reserved for Workspace users or Google One AI Premium subscribers. In Gmail, as in other Workspace applications, Gemini is presented in the form of a side panel, which can be called by clicking on the corresponding button. The chatbot, which leverages the Gemini 1.5 Pro model, not only provides proactive suggestions to help users get started, but also allows you to perform a series of operations, such as:

– Summarize an email
– Suggest replies to an email
– Help to write an email
– Ask questions and search for specific information in emails in your inbox or files in Google Drive.

You can also ask free questions. For example, you can ask Gemini to search your inbox for things like “How much did the company spend on the last marketing event?” ”, or “When is the next team meeting?” “. The tool is available both on the web and in the Gmail mobile apps on Android and iOS, where it can be used to analyze emails and display a summary view with key takeaways. Google also promised that more features on the app, such as Contextual Smart Reply and Gmail Q&A, would be available soon. Gemini in Gmail is available today to all Google One AI Premium users, as well as those with the Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, and Education Premium add-ons. Availability may take 1-3 days for rapid release domains, while for scheduled release domains it may take up to 15 days.

Not just Gmail: Google announced the arrival of the Gemini sidebar also to other Workspace apps, such as Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive. Through the side panel, Gemini helps users summarize, analyze, and generate content using information gathered from emails, documents, and more, all without switching apps or tabs. The updated interface automatically summarizes the content you’re working on and proactively provides contextually relevant suggestions to help users get started. In Docs, Gemini helps you write and refine content, summarize information, brainstorm, create content based on other files, and much more. In Slides, Gemini helps you generate new slides, custom images, summarize presentations and more, while in Sheets, the Gemini sidebar helps you track and organize data. You can also quickly create tables, generate formulas, and ask how to perform certain tasks. The Gemini in Drive side panel can summarize one or more documents, get quick information about a project, or dig deeper into a topic without having to search for it.

Unlike Gmail, Gemini in Workspace apps is currently only available on the web and not from mobile apps. Gemini in Wordkspace Apps is available today for all Google One AI Premium users, as well as those with the Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, and Education Premium add-ons. Availability may take 1-3 days for rapid release domains, while for scheduled release domains it may take up to 15 days.
