At Imou too, the cameras are starting to see double. Just like its compatriot Ezviz a few weeks ago, the Dahua group brand now offers surveillance cameras no longer equipped with one sensor, but two: the Ranger Dual and Cruiser Dual. Imou and Ezviz are in reality far from being the first to double the sensors on a surveillance camera since Reolink has been doing it for two years already with its Duo range, but the two Chinese use a slightly different configuration, consisting of a sensor fixed and another motorized.

One camera, two areas under surveillance

The main advantage of such a configuration is to be able to monitor two zones simultaneously. Ezviz adds the possibility of enjoying a slightly closer view with the motorized block, but Imou uses identical optics (3.6 mm) with the two sensors.

The Ranger Dual, indoor model, offers a horizontal field of vision of 84° (or 101° diagonally) with the 3 Mpx sensors of its 6 Mpx version – it also exists in 8 Mpx (5 + 3 Mpx) and 10 Mpx versions (2 x 5 Mpx). The two optical units are superimposed, with a double motorization allowing the upper one to rotate through 355° and to tilt it through 90°. A small flash is also provided to enjoy color images with this motorized unit, but you will have to be content with the black & white of infrared vision with the fixed sensor.

The Ranger Dual is obviously equipped with a motion detection system to automatically film events (optional microSD and cloud storage), and can also simply notify the presence of people and animals. The motorized block can obviously follow movements as a bonus, and the camera also offers a microphone, a speaker and a siren.

For its part, the Cruiser Dual offers more or less the same functionalities with slightly wider fields of vision (approximately 90° horizontally), but benefits from a different construction and IP66 certified for outdoors. It also swaps animal detection for vehicle detection, while of course retaining people detection, and takes advantage of projectors around its two lenses to produce color images at night. Infrared vision is of course still offered and with that we find the microSD slot, the microphone, or even the speaker as well as 6 Mpx, 8 Mpx and 10 Mpx versions.

Imou’s new cameras are already available. We find the Ranger Dual around €70 in its 6 Mpx version, while the Cruiser Dual is around €100, also in its 6 Mpx version.
