Over the past ten years, telephone canvassing has intensified in France. Until now, a free solution existed to automatically block unwanted calls on iPhone and Android: Orange Telephone. Unfortunately, the operator has decided to put an end to this advantage by launching a new paid security offer, reserved for its subscribers.

Good news, 01net has found another application to avoid being contacted by direct sellers: Begone. Exclusive to the App Store for the moment, and therefore limited to iPhones, this service is very easy to set up.

The only prerequisite is activating the application in the Call blocking and identification section, located in the Phone menu of the Settings application.

From then on, it is possible to block certain prefixes directly in the Begone application. Here are the steps to follow:

  • Open the Blocked list;
  • Press the + button;
  • Write a cold calling prefix, 0162 for example;
  • Add the remaining digits in pound form to block all numbers from +33162000000 to +33162999999. In our case we find ourselves with 0162######;
  • Click on Save;
  • Touch Yes to validate the operation;
  • Wait a few seconds, and that’s it.

Then simply repeat the operation for all the other telephone canvassing prefixes:

  • 0163, 0270, 0271, 0377, 0378, 0424, 0425, 0568, 0569, 0948 and 0949 for mainland France;
  • 09475 for Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy;
  • 09476 for Guyana;
  • 09477 for Martinique;
  • 09478 for Réunion;
  • 09479 for Mayotte.

To go faster, iGeneration offers an XML file allowing you to add all the prefixes mentioned above to Begone. After saving it on iPhone, simply import it into the application using the Import new numbers section to get rid of cold calling.
