HC La Chaux-de-Fonds will be able to run for promotion! The Mélèzes ice hockey club announced Tuesday morning that it had obtained the right to play for promotion to the National League at the end of the season. “The National League licensing commission has granted the club the right to play promotion matches in the event of a new title in the Swiss League,” specifies the club press release.
Recent progress in the renovation project of the Mélèzes ice rink, combined with the latest results and positive financial projections “were decisive in the decision”, adds the text.
Guest in our Journal at 12:15 p.m., the president of HC La Chaux-de-Fonds, Olivier Calame, adds that these meetings can be held at Les Mélèzes as long as the work has not started: “Since the last unfavorable decision of the year last year, it is true that we accomplished a lot of lobbying work,” he added.
Olivier Calame was accompanied by Thierry Brechbühler last week, to plead the HCC’s case before the licensing commission. The Chaux-de-Fondier municipal councilor in charge of sports especially defended the issue of the ice rink. However, he did not provide guarantees on the deadlines and methods of renovation of the Mélèzes enclosure: “Giving guarantees as such is always difficult, since the final decision is within the competence of the General Council », underlined Thierry Brechbühler.
In principle, the debate at the General Council of La Chaux-de-Fonds on the file of the renovation of the Mélèzes ice rinks is maintained until January 28. Unless the commissions which will be consulted in the meantime wish more time to form their opinion. /mne-gjo
