In the event of a motion of censure adopted on Wednesday December 4, who would be best placed to become the next Prime Minister? Marc Fesneau answered questions from Jean-Jacques Bourdin.
“François Bayrou is one of the most relevant profiles to be Prime Minister”
In the event of government censorship, can the solution come from François Bayrou to try to find a government agreement? to allow the vote on a budget, to move forward in the areas of security, migration, inequalities? “François Bayrou has long been on this line of saying that we must achieve this without denying our convictions. Compromise is not compromise“. “Yes François Bayrou will make himself heard to say what he feels at the moment and what we must do“.
Should François Bayrou be appointed Prime Minister in the event of the fall of the government? “We know the links I have with François Bayrou” underlines Marc Fesneau. “In the current situation, this is one of the profiles that seems to me to be the most relevant taking into account its history, its journey, its relationships with everyone. But we can't start by saying it's Bayrou or anyone else, he didn't do it himself“. “François Bayrou is one of the serious hypotheses and a good solution“. In particular thanks to “his capacity for dialogue“.
“LFI and the RN want to go as far as possible in government chaos to achieve a presidential election”
Did Marine Le Pen fool Michel Barnier regarding the 2025 budget? “Marine Le Pen, for 3 weeks, has completely changed direction” deplores Marc Fesneau. “No doubt this is not completely unrelated to certain judicial indictments” he emphasizes. “She said that she did not agree with the budget, she is not the only one, but that she would not obstruct“. Et “little by little, she played a little music which was to say 'we haven't been listened to, it's not our budget'. Then finally, one thing leading to another, she was blackmailed to get where she wanted to getprobably, 3 weeks ago“.
Was the vote of censure to provoke a presidential election premeditated? “I have the impression that between LFI and RN, we echo the desire to go as far as possible in governmental and parliamentary chaos.” says Marc Fesneau. For the deputy, “the ends of each other, LFI and RN, the purpose of most of them is a chaotic purpose to arrive at a presidential election. It suits them for lots of calendar reasons“.
“The 60 billion additional taxes from the NFP will not only be for the richest!”
For Marc Fesneau, “the RN-NFP alliance is an alliance of circumstances, unnaturaland it is an alliance of the cons. None of them are able to take the slightest step to explain what they would do once a government had fallen for the country“. “The French are a political people. But when they watch all these political episodes, they may legitimately have the impression that their daily problems are not being addressed much.“.
“In the end, it's not just a matter of overthrowing a government or not. This is what I do for the French. Gold, this alliance of opposites proposes nothing other than to overthrow a governmentwithout offering anything” denounces Marc Fesneau. “The left's budget is a budget with 60 billion more in deductions and where we shave for free. It's very easy when you're in opposition“. The NFP asks “more money for public services, more money for national education. And each time, they say that we are going to do more taxes. But we have to stop telling ourselves nonsense, it's not just about the richest!“
