Coach Ralph Hasenhüttl from Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg does not see any danger of his team taking off after the success against RB Leipzig. The team was happy about the 5-1 win last Saturday, said the coach: “But everyone is very focused and knows very well that we have to stay hungry.”
Hasenhüttl doesn't want to shake up his starting lineup much in the DFB Cup round of 16 against TSG Hoffenheim on Wednesday (6 p.m./Sky). “It's not like we're planning on rotating too much. Let's see, maybe one or two positions,” said the 57-year-old, who also had the experience in England that players could play three games a week. Added to this is the tailwind from the recent triumph in Leipzig. “If you win at the weekend like we did, then there's no such mental fatigue anyway. On the contrary, it's an incredible mental push,” said Hasenhüttl: “That's another boost you get.”
The cup competition has a special appeal for Hasenhüttl, and the coach doesn't want to stop thoughts beyond the round of 16. “It's important to have this dream in the back of your mind,” he said: “It's always nice to know that you're doing well in the league and you're still in the cup. That can carry you if you have a certain level of success goal still ahead of him.”
