The Juste-là company is inspired by the news of the Olympic Games to offer us an original creation, both in substance and in form. It is a tribute to Alice Milliat and Violette Morris, two great figures of sport unjustly forgotten, delivered through a radio broadcast recorded in public. Indeed, Brigitte Kernel, novelist and literary journalist (notably on France Inter), imagined and wrote (with Sylvia Roux) an interview, sometimes moving, sometimes funny, always captivating, with these two distinguished athletes.

The scene represents her studio where she can receive them thanks to a return to the 20s and 30s. The interview reveals to us the excellence and diversity of their sporting performances, all the more meritorious as they had to fight against the prejudices, misogyny and intolerance that were rife at the time. The Olympic Games were not opened to women until 1928! We also discover the intimacy of their lives, the treasures of courage, audacity and perseverance that they had to deploy to impose their personal choices, the recognition of women’s sport successively in France, in Europe and internationally for Alice Milliat, her clothing and her sexual orientation for Violette Morris.

Served by the delightful inventiveness of Muriel Habrard’s direction, Sylvia Roux’s remarkable interpretation highlights the personality of each of these exceptional women and the strength of their common commitment. The question-and-answer game is interspersed with various documents which enrich and broaden the subject by accentuating its historical dimension, in particular by evoking the great feminist personalities who have worked in favor of equality between men and women, this just cause which it must tirelessly defend.

At Théâtre 3 S, 4 rue Buffon, at 11:45 a.m., from June 29 to July 21 (closed on Mondays).
