French rider Alexis Renard, who caused a fall on Monday in the final kilometres of the 3rd stage of the Tour de France, insulted Briton Jake Stewart.

Tensions were high as the 3rd arrivede stage of the Tour de France. As the final sprint approached on Monday in the streets of Turin (Italy), several riders were caught up in a mass crash. The cause was Frenchman Alexis Renard, who was taking his leader Bryan Coquart in his wheel before suffering a mechanical problem. And in his misfortune, the Cofidis team rider ended up on the ground, taking other riders with him, including Jake Stewart.

And the Briton from Israël-Premier Tech got angry with Alexis Renard, whom he accused of being responsible for his fall. Which didn’t necessarily please the Tricolore. “I f…. derailed. I derailed, what do you want me to do?”, he shouted at the Briton, a former member of Groupama-FDJ, according to images captured by television cameras. Alexis Renard and Jake Stewart were finally able to get back up and finished the stage in 173rd place respectively.e et 169e placed in the same time as the winner of the day Biniam Girmay, the fall having occurred in the last five kilometers.

A few moments after the finish, Bryan Coquard admitted to being responsible for the fall. “Alexis Renard fell, and what’s more, I was the one who made him fall. He derailed and when I tried to catch Mads Pedersen’s wheel, I swiped his front wheel. Making someone fall is already not pleasant, and when it’s your pilot fish, it’s even less funny. He told me he’s fine, that’s the main thing,” confided the French sprinter.

More fear than harm for all these runners, who were able to take the start of the 4e stage, this Tuesday, 139 kilometers long, including the Galibier pass to climb. Unlike Casper Pedersen, victim of a broken collarbone after falling five kilometers from the finish line.
