Massimo Rivola and the Aprilia managers had a mixed day on Saturday. Maverick Viñales may have brought home his fourth sprint race podium of the season (3rd behind Bagnaia and Martin), the attention of the Italian team was turned to Aleix Espargaro and Lorenzo Savadori, who both fell.

Aprilia deprived of two riders at Assen

The Spaniard, who fell heavily at very high speed, remained prostrate for a long time in the gravel trap, hit in the right hand. The Italian, test driver for the Noale brand, was also taken to the medical center after his error. The two men, unfortunately not sufficiently recovered, will not be able to start the race this Sunday.

Aprilia announced this morning the withdrawal of its two riders, a major blow as Aleix Espargaro was due to start from 5th place on the grid. The doyen of the paddock will retire at the end of the season and will become a test rider for Honda. Aprilia has already announced the recruitment of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi to replace Espargaro and Maverick Viñales, who is leaving for Tech3 KTM.
