Former French international Emmanuel Petit believes that Kylian Mbappé has an obligation to make his mark.
Former French world champion Emmanuel Petit has said he is tired of the media coverage his compatriot Kylian Mbappé is receiving.
Mbappe will leave PSG for Real Madrid after the Euros. The former FC Barcelona midfielder told AS:
“I am happy that the Mbappé soap opera is over, because we lived it every week. Will he leave, will he stay, what’s going on between PSG and Mbappé, did he have a good breakfast, did he do shit after breakfast ? “.
“It’s been tiring me out for a long time, Petit continued. Every week you open the newspapers, you go online and something is happening. It’s been like this for years and every six months: will he sign a new contract, will he stay? “.
“Mbappé has no more excuses”
Asked whether Mbappé will succeed in his new club, Petit brandished a joker, while affirming that the Bondy player has no other choice but to perform and live up to his status. “I don’t know if Mbappé will be a problem, but he knows exactly where he is going: in the best club in the world which won the Champions League and La Liga without him, in a locker room which lives perfectly. There are big egos, but the team comes first because Madrid is more important than any player, even if you won the Ballon d’Or. In Madrid, the height of a player does not matter.”
“Mbappé knows it, he is intelligent and will try to adapt as quickly as possible to his teammates on the pitch. He knows very well that the fans and the press are waiting for him.
