MotoGP Netherlands Assen J1, another fall for Joan Mir (Honda/22)!

Joan Mir’s season may be a little better than the previous one, but still, in Assen, it is difficult to convince oneself of any progress. The Spaniard suffered another fall, fortunately without serious consequences. World champion in 2020, Mir found himself 22nd, second to last. Clearly, his experience with Honda Repsol sometimes borders on a nightmare, but tangible rumors seem to confirm a contract extension. Is this the truth? Honda will soon announce its riders, but no one seems better equipped to continue the challenge than him.

Without a doubt one of the most difficult days for Joan Mir in recent years, at least from a result point of view. Since Qatar, he had established himself as the best Honda rider, but has fallen back down the hierarchy, just ahead of his teammate Luca Marini. « We worked a lot in the morning, which was good, and we managed to show some progress in the afternoon before the fall.. There is work to be done tomorrow if we are to reach our full potential, but everyone is working together.” he declared last night.

Yes, he suffered a fall. Fortunately, he has not injured himself yet, but it would be better not to play with the devil. His 2023 season was punctuated by visits to the infirmary, and it is legitimate to think that he does not want to relive that.
« The fall disrupted our plans a little, I was not injuredbut the second bike wasn’t set up as well as the first, so it was very difficult to push for a lap at the end. I had just put on a new tire to push a little into the top ten when I crashed. » he specified.

Still, Joan Mir’s career is quite fascinating.. Double world champion in Moto3 and MotoGP (2017 and 2020), he has, for the moment, failed to take over from Marc Marquez within the official Honda team. He went from regular podiums in 2021 to the depths of the rankings. Let’s hope he comes out of it as well as possible.
