The news was expected, it is now confirmed: Álex Márquez will continue to wear the colors of Gresini in MotoGP. If his brother Marc only spent one year in the Ducati satellite team, before joining the official structure, the younger brother has re-engaged for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

The rider with number 73 arrived at Gresini in 2023, after his debut in MotoGP under the colors of Repsol Honda then two difficult campaigns with LCR. The one who won the Moto3 and Moto2 championships in the past relaunched within the Italian team led by Nadia Padovani, quickly adapting to the Ducati and distinguishing himself with success in sprint races at Silverstone, then at Sepang last year.

Ninth in the general classification for his first season on the Italian motorcycle, he now occupies tenth place after a more complicated start to the championship, while the 2023 version of the Ducati is causing concern for several riders. His best result to this point is his fourth place at the Spanish GP, while on the other side of the stand, Marc Márquez has collected several sprint trophies and medals and sits third in the championship.

“Continuing at Gresini was my main goal,” comments Alex Marquez, who “thanks Nadia for her trust”. However, he does not hide the fact that he is extending this adventure in order to achieve the objectives that he has set for himself and which, for the moment, remain more difficult than expected to achieve: “Since I landed in this reality, my goal was to be regularly close to the best, and that’s something I haven’t achieved yet. The start of the season wasn’t what we hoped for, but the team is strong and I know how far we can go.”

“Alex is our student”, underlines Nadia Padovani, the team’s boss. “Since he arrived, two years ago now, the symbiosis between the team and him has been incredible from the outset and has been consolidated race after race. We know what his potential is, he has already demonstrated it and he only needs continuity. Renewing with him was obvious for us because we are aware of his value on and off the track. The results will come, including this year, I am absolutely certain of it.”

The choice of second driver still remains very open for Gresini. The team said they had “lots of options” and has not closed the door on the arrival of Toprak Razgatlioglu, who is determined to join MotoGP. Jack Miller is also a name that is circulating insistently, the Australian being in search of a place to land after being left out of KTM, and this while he has maintained good links with the Ducati group.
