In May, the second novel by Marie-Haude Mériguet, Alive, was republished by the pocket editions I readIt convinced readers with almost 25,000 copies sold.
It was the first time that the 41-year-old Brestoise signed with a publishing house, a radical change in the author’s life, who never imagined herself one day becoming a writer. “I always wanted to do a job where I would only write. I come from communications, and I love my job. But writing for a client is different than writing for readers, I needed something else,” she says.
This desire came to fruition in 2021, through the writing of his very first manuscript, Please, silence, self-published.
From Brest to Italy…
“I was made redundant overnight and it clicked: I left Paris to return to Brest is the city of my heart. I then opened a blog and began training as a self-employed entrepreneur,” says the author. Alive is his second novel.
Marie-Haude Mériguet was inspired by a trip to Italy in the Dolomites. She imagined the story of intertwined destinies of two young womenNicolette and Faustine, who had their first experiences in the mid-1980s.
