These talks focused on examining mechanisms for strengthening bilateral cooperation in various security areas of common interest, indicates the DGSN-DGST pole in a press release.

During this visit (June 26-28), Hammouchi had a series of meetings and interviews with, respectively, Celine Berthon, Director General of Internal Security (DGSI), and Nicolas Lerner, Director General of External Security ( DGSE), focused on ways to promote bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, and to raise the levels of coordination and exchange of intelligence and operational data concerning the various threats emanating from extremist organizations and transnational crime networks.

During these bilateral talks focused on the intelligence aspect of bilateral cooperation, Hammouchi was accompanied by a large security delegation representing the DGST. In this context, he had intense discussions with the Director General of the National Police (DGPN), Fréderic Veaux, in the presence of a large delegation from the DGSN, during which the advanced mechanisms of cooperation and coordination in the various security areas were reviewed by the two parties, in particular the establishment of proactive mechanisms for risk assessment and exchange of information during their joint action to secure the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games, underlines the press release.

In recognition of the excellence of Moroccan-French cooperation in the various security areas, Hammouchi was exceptionally decorated with the Gold Medal of Honor of the French National Police, in recognition of his efforts in favor of the consolidation and development of common security cooperation.

This visit was an opportunity for both parties to examine ways to promote bilateral cooperation in several areas related to the fight against transnational crime, particularly those relating to drug and psychotropic drug trafficking, irregular immigration networks, human trafficking, as well as operational mechanisms for cooperation in the deployment and execution of joint security systems and operations.

It testifies to the importance of raising the levels of security cooperation between Morocco and France, engaged in several bilateral action and coordination programs and which face common security challenges, adds the same source.

This visit also takes place in the context of the commitment of the DGSN and DGST services within the international security cooperation system, in order to guarantee an efficient contribution in the elimination of terrorist and criminal risks and threats, on a regional and international scale.
