Sébastien Gros is the best Frenchman at the end of this first day of competition. Alone in second place, the player with two victories on the Challenge Tour shot a 65 (-7). The 34-year-old scored an eagle on hole No. 8, as well as seven birdies and two bogeys. Just one shot off the lead, the Villeurbanne native is off to a strong start to his week at the Vaudreuil Golf Challenge.

Behind him, in the French clan, Clément Berardo is also in the top 10, in ninth position. Author of a card of 68 (-4), the 37-year-old made seven birdies and three bogeys. The native of Auxerre is suddenly followed by his compatriot Pierre Pineau, 14th at -3. The Altus player plays on a course that he knows by heart, a real advantage for the rest of the week.

Below par at the start of this tournament, we also find Benjamin Hebert and the young amateur Ugo Malcor in 22nd position at -2. But also Damien Perrier, Martin Couvra, Félix Mory, Xavier Poncelet, Oihan Guillamoundeguy, Julien Quesne and Joël Stalter, 35th at -1.

Vidal takes the lead

In the lead, we find Quim Vidal. The 24-year-old Spaniard, who had missed the top 25 in the European Card Final, started his week well. With an eagle on the 18th, as well as seven birdies (including three consecutive ones on the 6th, 7th and 8th then four other birdies in a row on the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th), the Spaniard shows good consistency, especially in putting, despite a bogey conceded on the 17th.

« Today (THURSDAY)I played really well. I’m coming off a few bad tournaments where my putting was probably the worst, and today was probably the best day I putted in my life. Hopefully I can keep that up. ».
